The twenty fifth South Asia Network Operators Group (SANOG) conference will be hosted by LEARN in the historical city of Kandy, Sri Lanka from 16th to 24th January 2015 in collaboration with Information Technology Center, University of Peradeniya with the support of University of Peradeniya. This is the fourth time a SANOG event is being hosted in Sri Lanka and it has been hosted two times by LEARN. The last event was hosted by LEARN in January 2011 in Colombo with the support of .LK
SANOG 25 is very proud to co-locate ION Sri Lanka as a part of its usual curriculum. The ION Conference will be on Sunday, 18 January, from 10:00AM to 4:30PM (IST, or UTC+5:30). ION Sri Lanka has generous support from Afilias and the ISOC Sri Lanka Chapter.Read more about ION Sri Lanka .
The venue for the conference is Amaya Hills Hotel, a location with excellent panoramic view and the tutorials & workshops will be held at Information Technology Center, University of Peradeniya, the garden university of Sri Lanka.

Prof. Gihan Dias
Prof. Dias was instrumental in setting up and running the academic Internet in Sri Lanka (LEARN), starting with Sri Lanka’s first email system in 1990. He led LEARN from 1993 to 2003. Prof. Dias also was founder and first president of the Lanka Academic Network (LAcNet), a nonprofit, volunteer organization of Sri Lankan students, teachers and professionals whose primary mission is to enhance educational opportunities in Sri Lanka by increasing the accessibility of information technology to its students. He earned a B.Sc. in Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka and a masters and PhD from the University of California.
In addition to being a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Moratuwa, he initially held the position of Domain Registrar of the .LK Domain Registry, the not-for-profit top-level domain registry for Sri Lanka formed in 1990, and later became its CEO, a title he continues to hold. He has also assisted a number of Internet service providers in setting up their own networks. In 2003/04 he was a founding Program Director of the Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka (ICTA), the government body responsible for the development of ICT in the country.
